Trakt is built for tracking (especially TV). Letterboxd is built for movies and a social diary. A lot of people run both, plus a spreadsheet for Blu-rays, plus Kodi in the living room. dejaVu is one place.
It is not “better at everything”. It is a hub for people who want movies and shows, a clean import, and scrobbling from Kodi.

If you are coming from Trakt
dejaVu covers Trakt’s job: history, watchlist, ratings, lists, scrobble. Day to day, the difference is:
- A dashboard you compose (watch time, Up Next, genres, nostalgia)
- Movies and TV in the same app, including a physical collection
- A guided import, rather than an opaque sync
To switch: import from Trakt, then hook up Kodi if you already scrobbled.
If you are coming from Letterboxd
You do not lose the diary: the ZIP export imports. What Letterboxd does not do — and what people usually hack together elsewhere:
- Show and episode tracking
- An “up next” queue for seasons in progress
- Scrobbling from the living-room player
Keep Letterboxd for movie social if you like the site. dejaVu is the full ledger (movies + TV) and the queue.
If you are coming from IMDb
CSV import from IMDb brings ratings, watchlist, and lists (movies and TV).
Who should not switch
- You only watch movies and you live in Letterboxd (reviews, social lists, public diary). Stay there, or import in addition without leaving Letterboxd.
- You want Trakt VIP with every Plex / Infuse integration on day one. dejaVu starts with Kodi and the API.
