Scrobble with Kodi

Pair the dejaVu addon (script.dejavu) with your account: scrobble from Kodi, resume paused playback, and keep Up Next in sync.

If you watch from Kodi, dejaVu can scrobble playback: progress, pause, history, and Continue watching fills in on its own.

The addon is script.dejavu. It talks to the dejaVu API (movies and TV kept separate: history, watchlist, ratings, lists, collection).

What scrobbling gives you

  • Resume exactly where you stopped
  • Mark a movie or episode watched without doing it by hand
  • Feed Up Next for shows in progress
  • Keep the living room (Kodi) and your phone (dejaVu) in sync

1. A dejaVu account

Create an account at dejaVu.plus if you do not have one. Pairing happens on the website, not inside Kodi.

If you are moving from Trakt, import your history first so scrobbling continues from there.

2. Install the addon

Install script.dejavu in Kodi (your usual repo, or the addon ZIP if you already have it). vStream and other players that send playback notifications can use the same addon.

In Kodi: Add-ons → dejaVu. You will see Movies and TV menus (history, collection, favorites, watchlist, ratings, lists).

3. Pair with a code

Same idea as a smart TV app:

  1. In the addon, start the connection. A user code appears.
  2. On another device, open dejavu.plus/activate.
  3. Sign in to dejaVu.
  4. Enter the code, check that the IP / device match your living room, then Authorize.

The addon receives a token and connects on its own. The code is single-use and expires if you do not confirm it.

4. (Optional) API keys

For a client that does not use the device flow, create a key under Settings → API:

  • Public key: read
  • Secret key: write (scrobble). It is shown only once.

The official addon uses the device code, so you do not need to paste a key by hand.

5. Check that it scrobbles

Start a title, pause in the middle. On dejaVu, Continue watching should show it. Finish playback: history updates, and for a show the next episode appears in Up Next.

If nothing shows up: addon paired, playback reported by vStream / the player, and the same dejaVu account you used on /activate.

Next
